BREAST LIFT
(Mastopexi)

Mastopexy is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts. Women usually decide to have this procedure after weight loss and after pregnancy when mammary gland looses its volume.

Surgical Procedure: Depending on the size and shape, many surgery techniques exist. The most performed are:

1. Vertical technique with  scar around the nipple and only vertical scar extending downwards, which has small wrinkles for two months, and with time disappear.

2. Turned T technique includes circular scar around the nipple, a vertical and a horizontal along the lower crease of the breast.

3. Peri-areolar technique with just circular scar around the nipple, at the beginning it has wrinkles but they disappear under the pressure of mammary gland. It is not suitable for large breasts.

If augmentation of breasts is to be done, implant can be placed in front or behind the gland, but most often under muscle.

Duration and Anesthesia: The procedure is two and a half to three and a half hours long in general anesthesia.

Post Surgical Recovery: Resuming normal activities after 5-7 days. Sutures are removed after two weeks. Special bra is recommended.

Rare Complications: Temporary over-sensibility of nipples, light swelling subsides within two weeks. There is no guarantee that breast feeding won’t be interfered. Scars are permanent but fade with time.
